The First Plague Pandemic (541–750 AD): Transformative Disaster or Footnote in History?
The Volkswagen Foundation symposium will take place on 22–24 September 2021 at Schloss Herrenhausen in Hannover. The interdisciplinary symposium, organised by Elena Xoplaki (JLU Gießen), Marcel Keller (UniversityTartu) and Christof Paulus (LMU), brings together renowned scientists and young researchers and revisits holistically the Plague Pandemic and its initial outbreak during Justinian's Reign 541–544 CE.
